Bike trip to Hydalen
Instructions
The trip to Hydalen has something for everyone. It is a nice full-day trip that anyone can manage with an e-bike.
The tour starts at MOH+ in Hemsedal town center. Cycle across the bridge near Peppes Pizza and continue towards Hemsedal Ski Resort, along the beautiful Hemsila river and into the pedestrian path that leads to Tuv.
At Tuv, continue into the lush Grøndalen valley. Enjoy the scents and the beautiful flower meadows along Grøndøla river and into Grøndalen.
As you approach Solheisen, you will see a sign on the right side of the road indicating Hydalsveien. This is where the uphill begins, but it's easily manageable with an e-bike. The view becomes more magnificent and spectacular as you ascend.
Harahorn Hotel
During July, Harahorn Hotel is open. It is a fantastic place with a great view over Grøndalen. Here, you can stop for a cold drink and/or a delicious lunch focusing on local flavors. On sunny days, the terrace is a must. It also provides an opportunity to recharge both yourself and your bike's batteries.
Then, continue towards Harahorn and Vavatn. You are now above the tree line, with Vavatn lake on the left side of the road. It is open and beautiful up here, and the descent into Hydalen offers striking contrasts as you make your way back down to the lush and green surroundings.
You can follow the river and the road all the way down to the lake at the bottom of Hydalen.
Hydalshjallen
On the way back, there is an opportunity to park your bike and take a quick walk to Hydalshjallen, which offers a fantastic view over the valley you just cycled down into. Look over the edge, and you will surely feel a tingle in your stomach. After that, you will be ready for the journey back to MOH+.
